Should work on all 67-72 cabs right? No cracks or dry rot on rubber right? I'm interested, I will take it pending answers. Thanks, Patsy

Re: '72 Origional GM Gas tank Grommet

This will only work with 71-72 gas tanks. There are 2 styles 67-70, and 71-72. Just trying to help out. Trevor

Re: '72 Origional GM Gas tank Grommet

Trevor do you know the difference? When I checked on LMCtrucks it says they carry a 1 1/2 inch and a 2 inch. I guess this a 2 inch and hole will be too big? Dave can you measure the diameter of the center hole? thanks

Re: '72 Origional GM Gas tank Grommet

I am not sure on the diameter of the filler tube on the gas tanks. There is a difference by just looking at the gaskets. This one (71-72) has what looks like 2 circles on the side that faces outside, the 67-70, are more plain looking and don't have that 2nd ridge. Hard to explain, but easy to spot looking at them. I will tell you though, boardmember here (ClassicHeartbeat) Wes, he has a few NOS 67-70 grommets that he said he would sell. He is getting a company to make them better than the ones most parts places carry right now. The ones on the market right now crack after a couple of months use because they cannot take oils or gasoline or weather for that matter. Hope this helps, Dave sorry I didn't mean to ruin a sell, but I believe he would have been unhappy if he has a different tank. Trevor

Re: '72 Origional GM Gas tank Grommet

If your gas tank has 2 small tubes coming from the passenger side up into the back passenger side cab corner, than you most likely have a 71-72 gas tank. Hope this helps. Trevor

I'll take it and you can just throw it in the same box as the heater core.
