Wiring Help ?

1 I am going through my engine wiring harness and I am trying to figure out how do I convert to HEI what wires do I remove? I have heard you just connect to where the resistor wire comes out of the fire wall is that right ? and what colour shouls it be?

2 Also I am going to use a Internal regulated altenator so how do I wire that up. 1 wire alt is my plan so do I just use the red wire coming out of the firewall and connect it to the alt? I want to have a clean conversion, and get rid of all the crappy wires that are not being used.

3 Last one what colour wire should I have running to the starter?
Thanks for your help Mario

#1-search function should get the info you need.
#2-search will confuse you, I have the easiest, cleanest way, PM me if you are interested in details.
#3-refer to #1, but it's really up to you.

Check out the FAQ section on this site. To answer part of number one...use a larger gauge wire from the distributor to the fuse block instead of the resistor wire. I think I used 10 gauge. You can get rid of the wire from the distributor to the starter. Keep the wire from the cab/ignition to the starter. I hope this made sense. There are some really good instructions in the FAQ section...much better than mine.

The colours of the wires should be, I believe, yellow from the fuse block to the distributor, brown from the ignition to the starter and purple from the distributor to the starter(the one you are getting rid of). I think these are the correct colours. Let me know if I am wrong.
