Re: American Truck Magazine

It's actually being collaboarted with by a fellow board member, John Gilbert. (Editor for CCT)

He posted a thread in the General Discussion a while ago, possibly looking for future features. (link)

So what did you think of the first edition?

Here is the cover, the overall idea of the magazine is good. Although a very glorified LMC catalog there are some nice tech articles from board members experiences so that is cool. it covers many years of trucks within the 100pages, so I can see this and future articles being very helpful to many American Truck owners.

Re: American Truck Magazine

All I can say is you guys definitely need to pick this mag up. I just got mine today. Just in my first read it has 2 tech articles that are going to help with my project, along with probably 3 or 4 convenience items that are out there that I really never planned on using but probably will. Plus it has a squarebody article in there. I don't know about anyone else, but I think its always nice to see our stuff in print. Right now our house only has 2 magazine subscriptions (cct and blackbelt) but if the magazine continues to deliver like this, I may have to add a third.

Any board member's trucks make it in the first issue?

Driveway Dreams 01-26-2010 11:17 PM

Re: American Truck Magazine

Sounds like a great one to go get. I saw that this issue is basically all year GM trucks. Is the magazine going to stay all years, all makes of American trucks?

Re: American Truck Magazine

That's a good question Gerald. Since it is mainly sponsored by LMC and they cover such a wide range of makes and models, I would assume they will cover it all.

still can't find it been to Wal mart and Barnes and Noble just got to keep looking I spose

Re: American Truck Magazine

It's a glorified LMCtruck catalog. If you have one of there free catalogs already and ever wondered how to install some of the parts on your truck but didn't have a Chilton's book then this magazine could be your guide.

CHROMAHOLIC 01-28-2010 11:09 AM

Re: American Truck Magazine

picked it up yesterday....not really impressed with it, like mentioned above it's got more pages from the LMC catalog than anything else....

thump16 01-28-2010 12:51 PM

Re: American Truck Magazine

The whole purpose of the magazine is to show squarebody and classic trucks love. You don't have to be impressed with it. If you look at other magazines, we barely get recognized and usually the first 10 pages advertise lowrider and late model parts.
I think this magazine will reach out to everyone even those who don't have internet access. The first thing most new comers to the site ask is where can they get parts for their projects. This magazine has the answers right there.
My point is John Gilbert and company didn't have to do anything and the complaints would still be rolling about how certain C-10's never get love or support. So give it a chance before you pick the magazine apart.

Re: American Truck Magazine

I'm not picking the magazine apart...I looked forward to getting mine as much as anybody else on here did....but I think like most guys we want to see trucks and lots of them, the tech articles are great but I feel they don't have to make reference to the catalog so much. I realize this is the first issue , but all I am saying is why should I pay 5.00 for an LMC catalog when I can get one for nothing....almost a third of the magazine is pages taken right from their catalog. I am now looking forward to the second issue to see what it brings.
