According to the Williamson Daily News, Albert Dancy Jr. of Sutton, West Virginia was laid to rest recently in the bed of his 1967 Chevrolet pickup, accompanied by his Old Timer pocketknife and a Remington .243-caliber deer rifle. Dancy was shot and killed on February 15 in a domestic quarrel.

Dancy's son, Adam Dancy, honored his father's request to be buried in the truck.

""He said it always joking around, but he said it for so many years it was pretty much serious to me," said Adam Dancy. "I always took him seriously. It was the last thing I could do for him."

I hadn't seen that before. That was good on his son to do that for his dad. I'm surprised no tree huggers had an issue with that.

I just found more info. It was his Ex-Wife's husband. Read more...
Quote:

A native of Sutton, Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on trucks and riding four-wheelers. He was a carpenter, a miner for Massey Coal, and a member of the American Hunting Association and Friends of Coal.

On Feb. 15, just a week after his birthday, Albert was shot and killed. State Police Sgt. R.D. Lilly said it started out as a domestic dispute between Dancy's ex-wife and Robert Dodrill Jr., 44, of Summersville.

Dodrill is accused of forcing his way into the Albert's mobile home at the Pine Trailer Park in Summersville and shooting him in the chest with a small caliber handgun, Lilly said. Dodrill is in the Central Regional Jail on charges of first-degree murder and burglary.

Albert is survived by his two sons, four brothers, three sisters, a half-brother and three grandchildren. Adam said the family concurred on what needed to be done to give his dad the kind of burial he would have wanted.

"I mentioned it one time and we all made it happen," Adam said.

i had a gut feeling a mobile home would be involved. this is backwoods even for southeast ga. however i did expect to see more 3 and 8 t-shirts at the burial site.
I would have handed the truck down to my son to pull the ex wifes house off its blocks. that would have made him proud.

I have arranged to be hauled to the cemetery in one of my old trucks. They said they could bury me in the truck but I want someone else to enjoy it. They did bury a woman in a sports car one time he told me.

Yeah I would do that. I would tell'm to carry my casket to the graveyard in the truck, do a burn out and then set me in the ground. The truck would be passed on.

We actually hauled my dad's casket to the graveside in the bed of his '70. He loved that truck and we all thought it would be a nice touch.
All except the snootier side of the family though. They were shocked and appalled. Oh well. Never saw much of them anyway!

My wife and friends think i am a little diehard.they know that if something happens to me, load up the casket in the back of the truck, to boil the tires off till there is nothin left as one olast hoorah and bury my cold a$$ body in the ground. Heck it is even in my will.

I have seen it before, but now that I look at it again the casket is not that far in the hole.
the bed is filled with dirt and it looks like the casket is is going on to of the dirt. Now look at the roof and how close it is to the top of the hole.... he is not down there very far :P

I thought I was the only one !!!!!!

I have it in my will that me ( I'm 60 now so I'm hoping in 25/30 years) in my casket will be loaded into the back of pinky and driven around the city for a least 30 minutes, with 60's and 70's music playing on the stereo. In fact I may even add the route I want them to take !!!! I'm even thinking I may want them to load my Black Goldwing on its trailer and haul that along with me on the tour and to the cemetery. I knew I put that hidden hitch on my truck for a reason !!!!!

i've seen suburbans used as hurses.....and i have a 72 burb, so i'm all set for 50 years from now. however, i'd hate to see a classic vehicle buried for all time where it will rust away to nothing. better for someone to enjoy it and keep it on the road

So it's ok to bury a truck in the ground as long as it contains some crazy dead dude but it's not ok to part one out?
