How much would removing overload leaf lower my silverado???

I have a 2000 silverado 1500 with flip kit with overload leafs. How much would it lower the rear of my truck by removing??? Would it make it softer riding??? I need about 3/4 drop in the back???

Your overload leaf doesn't support the suspension until you reach a certain weight. Removing it won't change the unloaded ride any and will drop it the thickness of the leaf itself.

Very true in stock location. Note that the OP said "I have a 2000 silverado 1500 with flip kit with overload leafs". With the spring pack "under" axle removing the overload spring no longer lowers the truck.

You know, I read that and for some reason had a vision of a 3/4 ton Dodge overload(above the spring pack) in my mind. It was early:o My apologies, N2TRUX is right, there would be no advantage to removing the overload in your application.

I did the same thing. I had the 3/4" overload pictured in my mind and realized he had mentioned "flip kit".

okay, maybe run a 3/4 block??? I also have a coil over style trailmaster brand shock that is used for towing and hauling. I'm thinking replacing these with a lowering shock for the better ride, what do you guys think???

You might try replacing the shocks first. The overload spring on the shock could posssibly be holding your springs from dropping that extra 3/4" you are looking for.

Probably not, but it is worth a shot.

I agree, those things need to go blocks or not. Also, maybe try a hydraulic shock instead of gas charged to keep the extra pressure off of the suspension.

Thanks, for all your support. I will try removing the shocks and replacing them.
