SW fleet box

I realize they are as almost as rare as a Unicorn, but I am looking for a SW fleet box, wood or metal.
Just got back into projects after 20yrs. Had a 64 Chevy SW as my first vehicle... I missed "Big Red" so I decided to get back in the game with a 70 Chevy SW. I got such a good deal on the Step that I could'nt pass it up, hoping to find a SWB. Wow Was I in for a rude awakening. Anyway, if anybody has some leads I would appriciate it

Thanks guy's,

1badhabit

Huge swap meet (Pate's) nearer the end of April at Texas Motor Speedway. If it's not there, you don't need it... kind of event. Not super convenient but probably worth the drive if you can wait that long.

There are actually a couple of guys in the Springdale/Siloam Springs area that do a lot of older cars and stuff. I can't remember their name, but they usually have some cars and trucks for sale on e-bay. You may try and see if they know where any are at. There are a few board members on here from your area too that may be able to help you out.

Also Welcome to the boards.

Cool. I would like to talk to them, or meet up with them sometime. There is a guy who has a salvage yard with 50 or more 67-72 C-10's, but wont sell any beds or important parts off of them. Frustrating! He has a 67 or 68 bed collecting rust out in the field with no wood in it, just going to waste, again no sale! What can you do? If you come up with some members names let me know.

Thanks,

You know Mike? I've talked with him several times on email and bought a bumper off him several years ago. Is he on the board?

I found out that his shop is less than 1 mile away from my house. Going to meet him tomorrow. Thanks again for the heads up on Nevill"s. You may have saved me alot of time and headaches.

Have you talked to anyone who has cut a LWB into a SW? It's got to be one hell of a project just to keep it strait. I thought about it due to the fact there are a boat load of LWB out there. Don't have the experience under my belt for that type of job.

I've read a thread on this forum whereby a member cut a LB frame down to a SB. Not an uncommon procedure but he also cut the bed and nicely welded the pieces. He posted many pics of the process. Might try a search if you cannot find a reasonable bed.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind. A Miller 180/220 may be in there for future purchases.

Nevill's is all out of short beds parts for now. I'll be back over there for parts here and there, I'll keep an eye out for you. Seems like a good guy. He does everything for late models.

I had a local welder cut mine down...He charged me 100 bucks...Used the metal support from ECE to support the frame...worked out well...

I just bought one from (Duncan and Son) and its in incredible shape. Its got a steel floor and even it looks unused. I would get ahold of him and see if he might have a leed on one. Good Luck and I hope you have a "little" cash set aside.
