Rotor dust shield?
 

I'm progressing quite nicely with my front suspension in my 68 longbed. My question is do i need a vibration washer or pad behind my rotor dust shield. I've seen in some threads where guys use them. My cpp dust shield did not come with one. Is vibration an issue? should i make something? How important is it? My spindles are from ECE and my rotors ar cross drilled and slotted. My other question is Should i be concerned with painting up my rotors and brake calipers? Is it not necisary? I notice a lot of guys don't bother.

I always run a rubber gasket behind the dust shield.
I'm not sure it would make any difference if you left it out.
Some brake kits don't even have a dust shield. I don't think it would be a big deal, either way
Painting rotors and calipers is a personal choice.
But they will rust if you don't.
(unless they are zinc plated rotors and aluminum calipers)

my McGaughey's 2.5 drop spindles didn't come with them OR even have the taps in them to mount a dust shield. I've neve seen an issue of going naked ;)

IMO, a bead of RTV will do the job. crazy AL

Enlighten me What is RTV? Is it a silicone or gasket maker type product or is it a brand of condoms. I'd hate to waste a good condom on front suspension.
