motor mounts/frame mounts
New to the group here and I have been reading lots of great info. I have a 66 longbed sideside that my Dad and I are resto moding. This is are first try at something like this and would like to start a build page. But will we have to change the frame mounts for engine when we take the 283 out for a 350? Thanks for any advice.

Re: motor mounts/frame mounts
nope I dont think you do - i believe all v8 frame perches are the same (should be symmetrical) whereas the I292 perches were asymmetrical.

Welcome to the forums :D
No you won't need to change to a different motor mount brackets when switching from a 283 to a 350.....they are both small blocks. However I would recommend installing new replacement motor mounts when installing the 350. |

Re: motor mounts/frame mounts
you need the passenger side frame perch for a 230,250 or a 283 for it to work properly

Re: motor mounts/frame mounts
What do you mean by lean? I had a problem getting the perches in on mine .I have a 350sbc that the PO installed, the perches were installed backwards i.e.lft.to rght.,rght.to lft. placing engine about an inch back and thus putting driveshaft tight between tranny and rear end.No slip forward clearance.I swapped them around it did give me the clearance needed at the drive shaft but it was hell lining up driver side mount to frame holes.Did I need different mounts.I am not sure exactly what mounts I actually have but they were tight fitting.Oh they are placed in the front mounting holes.

Re: motor mounts/frame mounts
A couple pics might help. The '63-'66 V8 and some 6cyl mounts went in the rear location. The '67-'72 small block mounts were in the forward location. The 292's used one of each, passenger side forward, drivers side rear.
