Not low enough...
I got my bed on to measure my tank fitment, and i'm not low enough. Go figure, I want 2 more inches at least. Right now I have a 4" leaf with a 1.5" shackle. Will a flip kit give me the rest? What do you guys recommend? DJM?
It's a 71 shory with leafs, i'll post pics soon my camera battery is crap. Also for sale soon- 4" drop leafs and 1" drop front springs... I'm tired... |
Re: Not low enough...
A flip kit will get you a 6" rear drop on stock leaf springs.
I think you will need a c-notch in the frame also. I think some members have used a 73-87 flip kit, and modified it to work with the narrower leaf springs that the 67-72 trucks have. |
Re: Not low enough...
This is what a flip kit, factory leafs with one leaf removed, and 1.5'' shackles will do for ya. It will put the axle on the frame, maybe a little bit into it, so you will need a notch. My flip is for our years with the narrower leafs and it is from DJM.

What size tire do you have dieselarmy? What do you have up front?

Re: Not low enough...
255/60's on 8'' rims
2.5'' drop spindles with one coil cut off the factory springs up front. It was done all on the cheap, and I have no complaints. There's a bunch of pics and whatnot down below in my sig. |

Well I ordered the DJM flip kit yesterday. It should get me where I want to be. I would like to be able to use the c notch I put in. Maybe I can add a 1" block with flip kit? I'll be using the flip and the 1.5" shackles. I may need the 3" front spring with the 3" spindle. This is what it looks like now:

The cool thing is also that Caltracs makes a traction system for 6772 leafs with or with out flip kit. You rear coil guys are lucky...
