WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

I am looking foor a tach cluster, must be from a 78 or newer, but i would really like an 80s cluster with the newer font, it doesnt matter to me if its from a big truck or if the fuel guage is where the clock is or under the tach, as long as it has one

I am also looking for a clutch pedal set and linkage for a non hydraulic clutch, would also like the bellcrank and the frame pivot.

Thanks

What is the easiest way to tell the year? I know the volts/amps and oil gauges narrow it down. I can check a couple of clusters i have here.

Re: WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

If I am not mistaken, the 80's will have 85mph speedo, 78 & 79 will have 100mph.

How many tach clusters do you have?

I have a few clusters here. I know about the 85 to 100 mph part. What year did the electric oil gauge come in? How about the volts to amps change? I think the earlier ones had a date code on the PC, but not sure on the later ones..

Re: WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

77 is first year for volts, only year for volts and mechanical oil pressure, then 78-79 were electric oil pressure, 80 and up 85mph new font.

id love to find a 77-79 c60 cluster with the fuel gauge inside the tach in good shape. Hope this info helped you narrow it down.

Re: WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

1980 was the first year with "orange" highlights instead of "baby blue" as well, thats the easiest dead give away to tell on the tach and speedo.

The different font does it for me, huge difference right there.

Re: WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

Ok, i looked through a few and i have one with the electric oil gauge in nice condition. It is the 78-79 style i believe. (100 mph speedo) I will have to do a little research to find a value on it. I also have a newer font one out of a bigger truck with a 4K tach, but that won't be cheap...

I have a few of the blue highlighted 78-79 tachs, but I haven't had a chance to test, clean, and paint the housings.
How soon are you wanting one?

i want want on soon, but i dont need one soon. ill probably wait for an 80s cluster and if i dont get one or depending on the price i will settle for a 78-79

Re: WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

The electronics and mechanics are identical between the blue and orange highlighted tachs. I believe the font is even the same (I'll have to compare to be sure). I have thought about getting new overlays with the orange or painting over the blue. Sorry I'm
not further along to be able to help you out.....

EDIT:
the font is different. This one is smaller and fatter, guess I'll have to do some experimenting.

no thats fine. its good to see that you are coming up with solutions, and some things take time to get good quality. i wish you the best of luck with the overlays

The cluster that I had in my 87 was from a 79, got the white overlays and looks just like the 80s font. The sweep of the gauges is the same between the two, just the speedo is different, obviously being 100 to 85 mph.

The one cluster I have now is from a 70s with the fuel gauge in with the tach, I plan on getting the overlays for that, won't be able to tell the difference. Dunno if I want a vacuum or clock were the air pressure gauge is.

Re: WTB: tach cluster and pedal set

do you buy the overlays? or do you make them?

Yes, just many years of dust. I don't clean these at all, just took the lenses off to get decent pics. The gauges look good under the dust. (no rust that i can see, but will look them over better). I will add a couple of pics tonight for you...
