GMC Carry All nostalgia

I found this today while poking around on the nhra.com site
In case you don't know there was a spectator death this weekend due to an accident at the track in Phoenix Arizona. My prayers go out the family.

Anyway here is a cool article about a nice GMC Carry All used back in the day by Garlits

the Garlits truck(in the article) is a clone and was built in Calif. it is a 64-66 with the 60-61 hood on it

I wonder what the fuel bill was driving that big V6 all over the country?

Re: GMC Carry All nostalgia

gas was pretty cheap then, but then everything was cheap even your labour. it was more than likely a 305, which is not really that big but the gearing was more than likely low. wouldn't be any worse than towing with a 454 today. they more than likely pulled a bit of weight with them. with tools tires eng or spare parts plus the car
