New stuff for the Blazer
5 Attachment(s)
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've done anthing to the Blazer. I;ve really enjoyed driving it for the last 5 months. Eventhough it has gotten really cold driving it without the heater working, no carpet, and a missing driver side vent window. I really got motivated to get more things done on the Blazer. I had one origional side panel left in the Blazer and decided to use it as a template and make some new ones. I also splurged on an aluminum radiator and a complete rubber body mount kit from LMC. I'm gonna tackle the radiator install today and the body mount kit in a couple of weekends. Spring is approaching and I really want to take the top off. Here are some pics.

What do you have in mind for the rear side panels? Been thinking it over myself, and am interested.

Re: New stuff for the Blazer
Well it's about time slacker -
If your body mount bolts aren't rusted solid like mine were - it shouldn't be too bad. I had to triple my 'guesstimate' of time due to rusted bolts I was forced to cut out - at least they are all new now... |

New radiator installed. I had to modify the right radiator mount. The cap was rubbing it and wouldn't close. A couple of minutes with the cut off wheel and the sawzall and clearance issue solved. Works great. I took a couple of pics of it installed. Now the body mounts. This truck is gonna be ready to tow the boat to the lake all summer long. Tops are optional!

Excellent. Good job fitting that radiator... looks like it belongs there.

Re: New stuff for the Blazer
Thanks VT, been working on it for a while. Hey monte, I haven't decided yet if you're trying to be funny or if you are just an idiot. So far you have only succeded in the latter of the two. First off, the radiator was a necessity because the origional one had a hole in it. I did make the side panels out of material that closely resembles the factory ones. However, if you paid attention to details in the photo you wld see that they still need vinyl and that they aren't even screwed in. My seats do in fact match. They are factory buckets. I have the passenger seat tilted foward and my have my coat draped over the back. I'll give you one thing; my vent window was less "than" the new radiator. The gun racks mount up pretty well. They've been on for the last four months. I'ts been a daily driver and guess what, they are still on. I'll pass on your suggestions on the black curtains and shag carpet. They are just not my style. Good luck with your career in comedy.

How did your bottom mounts work out on the rad.,just curious if they lined up What do you need to fix the vent window? |
Re: New stuff for the Blazer
MAN I LOVE ALUMINUM RADIATORS! I can't wait to get to the point where I can justify buying one (right now it would just be a real expensive door stop). Yours looks like it fits in its home pretty good. Nice progress overall. :metal:

Re: New stuff for the Blazer
Hey jaros, the radiator was pretty much a plug and play item. The only issue I had was with the top mount. The bottom mounts fit great. I have a vent window in the garage, I just need to take the door apart and install. Hopefully soon. Hey Blaizz and Critter, we gotta get ya'lls rigs on the road soon. Blizz, I'll be over there next week to get your truck on the road. Later.

It's a Silla. Got it on Ebay. Really works great. I'm gonna install the electric fan soon now that the Jeep is back on the road. Hopefully get to the body mounts soon.

Re: New stuff for the Blazer
Did you ever take the top off that thing yet? I don't remember if you had told me that when I was out to see you.
I was booked the last few nights with other stuff so I didn't get out to the garage [figures it was a LOT warmer here]. - :) Keep plugging away at it... |
Re: New stuff for the Blazer
Let me know how the body mount project works out....that is next on my list

Re: New stuff for the Blazer
Wondering how the Silla radiator is performing for you? Is it the 139 one I see on there?
