That's funny Kameron, I just can't imagine they racked up over 100,000 miles by chasing criminals down the highway in a big ol square body dually. But I like it!!!

Re: 89 Police Crew 4 sale not mine
depending on the department I could see a bunch of uses for something like this, Horse trailers, tactical trailers, hauling cars, towing mobile command centers, ect ect.... I would think that the little 5.7 in there even with only 90K miles had probably been some pretty hard miles ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Re: 89 Police Crew 4 sale not mine
We used ours for towing our Thiokol snowcat, snowmobiles, the SAR team used them to tow their mobile command post, the posse used it to tow horse trailers on occasion. We had 3, and they were all high mileage rigs. Figure that when they got used, they were usually heading for the mountains. We could easily put several hundred miles on them for one mission.
Ours were also fully equipped with lights and siren too. Besides the above, we would also use them to transport firefighters and gear to large wildland fires or more SAR or dive team personnel to emergencies, and we would usually respond with lights and siren for those types of calls. We also had a couple square body Burbs, a couple of square body Blazers (that were pool cars for patrol, but we used them a lot) and a square body with a flat bed. All equipped with lights and siren. |

Sorry to hijack, but I though I would post a pic of one of our mountain patrol vehicles. It's a Furd, and not a dually, but still.... And I have a few other squares that are/were in LEO service. The Blazer looks EXACTLY like ours did, but a different name on the door. :D

Also - I noticed it appears they stuck the "star" over the B85 body side molding. Normally (as part of a Police prep package) we leave that door trim off. K |
Re: 89 Police Crew 4 sale not mine
Keith - That rig is from Pueblo County, and as far as I know it is still in service. That pic is from around 2000-2001.
I'm not sure about that particular one regarding the trim, but I know ours did not have trim on the doors. I guess what I meant buy exactly, it that at that time all Colorado Sheriff's departments used a uniform striping and door decal. |
Re: 89 Police Crew 4 sale not mine
