It's a 68 or later.

67's came with small back windows with an option for large back window. 68's came with large back windows. However after 43 years, no telling what patched up trucks are out there. I've seen some very "creative" trucks out there supposely being sold by the grandson, uncle, cousin, brother, neighbor of the original owner with big block 4x4, corvette option, super spot option, factory built in 4 track players, ralley wheels, mis-matched doors, fenders, tailgates, fenders, hoods, grills, etc. Huck

Well i have the 68 for sale on ebay listed as 1968. I was just wondering to change listing to a 67 instead of 68.

was not an option in 68 but it is possible to have been an early build date with carry over from 67. have seen that

GM commonly used "left over" parts from prior year's models ... pretty sure someone has shown documented proof here that their early production date '68 came with a small window.

The 67 Price & Facts Book states and I quote Window, Full View Rear
Opt No. A10 cost $43.05 No such option available in 68 listed

I agree with the first part. I have still yet to see an original 68 with a small window in the 10-30 series. Some say they exist, but i have never seen one.

They still do that now to. I had a 1995 with 1994 parts:lol: In fact the trans casing was a used reconditioned case straight from the factory with all new guts. They ran out of casings and were buying them back from yards

I have yet to see a 1968 1/2 ton to one ton with a small back window. GM supposedly never made them. All I have heard was chatter about people saying there uncle rar rar had one back in the day and it HAD to be the real thing.
Did this parts truck have a VIN plate on it? What did the VIN plate say on it?

Re: 1968 chevy small back window

to make a big cab work you'd have to cut the front lower 1/4 of the cab off and swap it. From the door front lower portion clear up to the dash.

Re: 1968 chevy small back window

I had heard one time that they used about 500 cabs with small windows in early 68. It was also very common back in those days for dealers to get what ever they wanted built.

Every car company builds a few cars/trucks (1968) for the next model year in the present year (1967). They still do it today. Sometimes they start running these new models 3-4 months before model change. They are called pilots and have about 20 engineers walking along with them to see that they are getting put together right.
