Lord What A Morning!

I had planned on working on my truck this evening when I got home, but decided to get drunk instead, here why.

I have had a day like no other today and is was FUNNY AS HELL after I got all dried off. Please go ahead and laugh, I know I did afterwards.

I had to go in extra early to sample for Trihelomethanes and HAA5’s today and those samples are taken at the ends of our distribution system. About 7:30 I had to use the restroom and the new Fire House that is being built is about 99.9% complete with running water, so I decide to pull in there. The new Firehouse sit 50 feet in front of the 200,000 gallon 145’ elevated Delacroix Water Tower.

First thing I check is to make sure I can finished the paperwork in the room then proceeded to go about my business. Well about the time it come to perform the paper work I feel the toilet shift and all of a sudden a WHOLE lot of water is spraying all to beat the band all over the friggin’ place, I have no idea what I’ve done, I’m trying to reach the shut off valve, there were paint cans stacked 4 high and 2-3 deep on the side and I can’t quickly get to the shut off valve. My pants are at my ankles, the floor is flooding and all 200,000 gallons seem to be coming out of a 3/8” supply.

Now I’m a big kind of guy and I can ONLY imagine what I must have looked like from the rear trying in vain to shut off a supply line. (I wish I had it on film I could make 10,000 real quick on America’s Funniest Videos!) I finally move enough cans to get to the valve, shut off the water and tried to dry off as best as possible. Of course I happen to be wearing tan colored pants which if course show darker when wet, cleaned up and best as I could picked up my dignity and walked out the door. BTW I could not even comb my hair as I happen to leave my comb at the house.

I forgot that out in the truck bay were 2 electricians wiring up various things, who had a puzzled look on their faces when I walked out the door, soaked looking like Ace Venture Pet detective from the Bathroom Scene. They said and I quote “ Dude you OK? We heard a scream and though you had problems” I explained what happened and walked away with them having a good laugh.

When the toilet shifted (they had not tightened the bolts down,) the water supply line (copper supply line with a compression fitting, who in hell uses those anymore) pulled out of the bottom of the tank. For a moment their I was so nervous I could have not went to save my life!

About 20 minutes later, a general broadcast comes out of the radio asking me if I need help having an accident. All the rest of the day was people giving me advice on plumbing.

I figured that the electricians called the Fire Dept and it spread from their.

When I got home I made myself several tall Rum and Cranberries drinks.

Hahaha!:lol: Cool story. I'm sure you'll be the hot topic for a few days. Reminds me of the time I went to the beach with my GF a number of years ago, romantically walking along the surf, when a wave came up from behind and soaked me from the waist down. I was suppose to be at work slaving away on a project for a meeting about 30 minutes away. Thank goodness I had black pants on, but a lot of people wondered what I was doing running a heater under my desk at full blast in the middle of summer!
