3/5 drop

I have a 71 lwb and I want to do a 3/5 drop using only coils, I want to use the factory hieght spindles. My first question is how will the ride be since its my daily driver, And would I need lowering shocks for it. Thanks in advance for any information... Mark

Re: 3/5 drop

Heard its not good to do all lowering with springs, you CAN I guess...

supposed to be better with drop spindles .5" spring and drop shocks/relocators supertrac bar etc

It will ride a lot better with dropped spindles as opposed to dropped coil springs. I would go that route if it is a daily driver.

I thought it might ride a bit rough with just the coils, My budget won't allow me to get spindles though.

Wait until you have the money for the spindle or do a 2/4 drop.

A 2/4 drop won't ride as bad?

Alignment can be a pain with a coil drop too. With spindles you are changing the geometry much less.

I've done it a lot of different ways over the years. In my experience, 2 inch drop springs ride very well. If you want more drop from springs, they ride better with cut stock coils than they do with pre-made 3 inch springs. You can cut one coil from the stock springs to get a 3 inch drop and it will be much more comfortable than specific drop springs.

Yeah Tx I thought about cutting a coil, but the springs are so worn out I thought I might as well replace them.

did a 3/5 on mine with coils and it rides good but had it at the alignment shop today and they could only get it close, said i need a longer stud on the drivers side to get it right. he didnt recommend i do that he suggested doing a spindle. going to try another shop to see if they can put the longer stud in, spindles are not in the budget right now.
