need help with rotors
ok I am in the process of putting a 81 front end in my 60 and am looking at spendles I see some that are 1" and some 1 1/4" rotors and I have read about both on here. so do I get the 1 1/4 spindle and change the rotors or what? give me some help and advice here.

Re: need help with rotors
Well, the thicker rotors are more massive and arguably better for durability and performance.
So, if you cared to step up to big rotors, you'd need the spindles, rotors, bearings and seals. You'd just have to ask yourself if the perceived advantage is worth the cost. If not, you can buy the spindles for thin rotors and run your thin rotors and such that you already own. Is the extra expense worth it to you ? |
Re: need help with rotors

Re: need help with rotors
ok what year suburban rear end did you use?

Re: need help with rotors
72 Suburban. Since my truck is a 63 it was a straight bolt in.

Re: need help with rotors
ok do you know if the pickup is the same?

Re: need help with rotors
Pickup rearend the same as Suburban ? No, the Suburban uses wider brakes. That's the one reason I sought this rear out. I wanted 5 lug and bigger brakes.
