I looked at this truck and I can tell you that the only rust it has is a small area under the battery tray. I checked every inch of it with a cardboard creeper and a strong light and it has no body rust, period! The 400 had excellent oil pressure and ran really well for a truck that sits a lot. The only part of the cab that is cut is from the top of the back window to about even with the body seam in the roof.

Sorry Jim, I didn't mean to steal your story but I couldn't help myself...:).. Glad to see you got it.

very nice - this is the first one of these I've seen that didn't have buckets (for easier access to the back from the cab)

Re: Just got it 72 Camper

Congratulations - that is a fine setup. Was the camper section made by Mitchell in CO? Ours was and it looks a lot like that on the outside.

Now that I'm fairly old, am not sure how I would like that smaller opening to the cab - I like the fact that it allows the bench seat (nice), but ours has bucket seats and is open all the way down to the floor - sure makes things easier for old folks to go back to the camper while on the highway.

The "rust free" aspect is great - does away with a lot of worries and hassles and is one reason why I bought ours, along with the 402 BB and the 4spd manual. And, it was low mileage when we got it - but, no longer - now at 140K. We have taken it all over the US and it has never given us a problem while "riding in style".

Have fun !!
