Pick a donor truck for me

3 Attachment(s)
I just recently acquired a crew cab with no motor/tranny and a bad front clip, so I am looking at donor suburbans. I'm leaning toward the suburban so I can pull some of the airbag stuff and donate it toward the blazer, sell of whats left

first is an 85 gmc suburban
(350cid + 0.060 over, tall pistons, 274 cam, Edelbrock intake/carb, headman headers, Accel Dist, etc) --
700-R4 tranny (TCI kit - firmer shifts, B&M TV-Valve to hold 4th longer)
3" highflow cat behind the headers with 3" to factory exit location (new with engine)
2.75" DJM drop spindles (rotors/bearings/calipers replaced)
qty=4 Firestone 224c 1/2" port airbags (2600 lb); pump tank and related f/r solenoids, switches, etc.
CD stereo (Kenwood flip-face/remote), Grant wheel (typical for the era)

The second is a completely stock 88 Gmc with FI 454, auto (I assume th400), 104k orig miles. They are asking about $300 more for this suburban, interior options/condition are the same on both

Thats what I was originally thinking but I dont think there is going to be much left to part after I take all 4 doors, front clip, buckets, bumpers haha. If I take the blue suburban I think I can break even after selling off wheels/tires, spindles .... I would really like a big block but I think eventually the crew cab will get a 6.0 swap anyway.

That TCI'd 700R4 would be nice, but so would the big block in the second one. That's a touch choice if you're planning a LSx swap anyway. I guess if you can recoup more dough from the first one then go that route.

You answered your own question .Get them both . Since the selling the wheels , spindles etc will basically break even, do that and buy the bigblock also . I need spindles so put me in line for those . I just realized my opinion is tainted with an ulterior motive.

I wish I lived near you so I could find all of these vehicles so reasonably priced .

I just realized that there are two different color interiors there . Which color interior works best for you?

I'd get the second one. Maybe you can use the running boards and hubcaps. They are off the hook.

Seriously, the first one has a lot a stuff. At least that is the way you made it sound in your description. I think that is a subconcious way of saying its the one you are leaning towards, haha.

Thanks for the input guys but I did end up buying the blue one last night. Its actually a pretty nice ride as it sits now.

If anyone is interested in the tan suburban send me a pm and I'll give you the contact number for the dealership. They are asking $1800 but they were going to let it go for $950

You really are buying these things CHEAP. Wow! I will be watching for the parts thread because I need some spindles. I just wish they were that cheap around here .

I not 100% sure yet but I think I may just sell/part the dually and keep this suburban. I cant believe how nice this thing drives!!

Frank, If I decide to part it and keep the dually I'll let you know about the spindles first.
