99 Tahoe Gas Gauge

My wife drives our 99 Tahoe and the gas gauge flickers back and forth between empty and full. It won't read the fuel level. It has the original fuel pump assmbly in it. I was ready to repalce when my good buddy who owns a repair shop said it might be a problem in the dash circuit. I was wondering if anybody here has had a problem similar to this?

Its a toss up. I have a test cluster just for this. I have had two 98 C2500s with the same problem and the cluster was the problem on both.

Have the computer scaned. There is a code p14XX its fuel level sender. It wont turn the light on but will be stored in mem. I see alot of theres on trucks, we put fuel pump assy in them. We do like 1 or 2 a week.

Re: 99 Tahoe Gas Gauge

The sender on a 99 tahoe is not wired through the PCM. So this will not set a code.
