Quadrajet

Will an electronic feedback carb work on a non ecm vehicle. I have an 86 GMC 4x4 with a 400 that has an older q-jet with hot air choke. I want to replace it with one that has electric choke and I have seen several of the feedback carbs on ebay. Thanks for the help.

Leon,
STAY AWAY FROM ECM CARBS! They are *very* difficult to tune correctly, and will not work without the engine control computer (you could probably find one of these, but why bother?) and they also use an oxygen sensor on the exhaust manifold which you don't have. I'm fairly certain you can replace the choke assembly on yours and convert it to electric without changing the whole carb.

napa has a electric choke conversion kit for Qjets... (pretty sure)

Hot air tube style Q jets are easy cake to convert to electric choke. get the choke housing , the internal lever screwed onto the the choke shaft (inside the housing), and the thermal spring and cover off another Q- jet, and replce the hot air choke parts......Clip a electric choke wire plug off a donor car or truck for use on yours....
