dip stick
 

hey guy's i need help, my motor doesn't have a dip stick in it. I have talked to the GM dealer ship here and they said that there is a special tool that presses in the tube. It's one you can buy and some times you have to pull the motor to get it in. Any one have any experience with this? I need to do something fast I'm leaking oil all over the place. thanks

I lightly clamp some vice grips to the tube and tap it in with a hammer. No need to pull the motor.

i tapped mine in with a hard piece of plastic. also used o-ring and silicone to make sure no water gets by

Speaking of dip sticks. When I changed oil I put in 4 qts. ran the engine, and checked the oil level. It showed full. I know it takes 5 qts. to be full. So I will put in 5 qts, and put a mark on the dip stick where it shows full.

Just put a bolt in the top of the tube and tap it in - no special tool required ;)

Just make sure there isn't a piece of broken off tube down in the hole or you won't get it in....:)

If you want to change your dipstick, what's the easiest way to get it out?

A box end wrench that just slips over tube will also work.
The box end wrench also removes Emergency Brake cables from inside cab and at the rear drum.

ya thanks allot guy's I went down to Oriley's and bought on of their chrome go fast ones. Not to pumped about that but it slipped in with not problem. It didn't need to be hit in place but it's snug enough that i don't think I'm going to have problems. I'm going to use ricks advice and use an o ring and hi temp silicone. Haven't put it together yet having a bbq but tomorrow that's all I got planned.
