Brake Question.
I was looking up prices to put new rear brakes on the truck and apparently there are 2 different size brake systems on these truck. ( 11 x 2 and 11 -5/32 x 2-3/4). Is there any way to know what size my truck has without pulling the wheel and drum off?

Re: Brake Question.
I'm guessing here but maybe the 11-2's are smooth on the outside and the larger drums have the cooling fins around them???

Re: Brake Question.
I could be wrong, but 1/2 ton usually have the smaller brakes, I just did my C10 and it was 2" if you are concerned about getting the wrong set, just buy both and take one back

Re: Brake Question.
I had to pull the wheel and drum to measure mine. All of the parts places seem to go by the measurements, not by the RPO codes. Bite the bullet and do it. Then write it down. You'll only ever have to do it once.
Here's my Tip: Measure the width of the brake lining (2" vs 2-3/4"), it's easier than measuring the diameter accurately with all the brake parts in the middle! |
