1964 C-10 Build

Well it's a long story. I have had this truck for 20 years, my dad bought it for me when I was 14. This year I have begun to work on it again after several years away from it. Life's distractions and a lack of patience has been the reason why I have never finished the truck. Progress pictures prior to these are stored on disc somewhere and I'm not looking for them. So we will start from this point and move forward at a steady, even pace and finally see this project through to it's completion. So follow along if you like. It will be a slow ride but we'll get there eventually.

I decided I had to have a smooth firewall so here it is all welded in with filler almost finished.

I guess technically it's not progress but here's some parts I picked up today. Met a guy in Syracuse for them.

Lowered not sure if I'm going to go airride or not, still thinking about it. I've got a 350 but maybe a 396. You can't beat a big block. I've got a mid-eighties frame I am going to use w/ a 12 bolt rear. It's just going to be a driver but nice. Oh and the paint..........black suede. I did like flat black but that has gotten played out over the last few years. And AR Salt Flat Specials w/ knock-offs.

Mid-80's frame is going to be a challenge due to the kick-up behind the cab...

Not too worried about it yet.

Looks good. How did that new door fit?

Re: 1964 C-10 Build

If you can use a suburban frame then there is not kick up just a straight frame.

Re: 1964 C-10 Build

True. Maybe I should rethink my options. I really don't want to have to raise the floor of the bed. We'll see. The new door didn't fit too bad actually. The forward corner required some massaging.

Cab looks good. What's wrong with the 64 Frame?

Re: 1964 C-10 Build

Never had one. We bought it as a cab and chasis with all the rest of the truck in pieces.

Love the dashboard, my favorite. The install looks perfect. Often they aren't fitted correctly, or the gauges are set at an odd angle, etc. Nice to see the project is again receiving attention.

Thanks. I have noticed that myself so a lot of time was spent getting that dash in there just right.

A couple shots of some stuff I cleaned up and sprayed with etching primer. I've got some amateur body work to take care of on the box side.

Looks good and welcome to the board. I too know about things setting to the side for too long.

So today I got the cab off of the dolly that it was welded to. Slid the frame under and set a spare box on it to see where I am at. Going to end up raising the floor of the box and doing some work to the frame to get the cab to sit a few inches lower.
