Exhaust manifold...HELP

So, I drove the truck 8 hours to visit my parents last Thurs. in Bowling Green, KY...the truck was running hot (235-240) most of the way (as well as running really poorly below 2000rpm), but I had to tough it out. When I got there, I discovered a leak in the gasket between the intake manifold and exhaust manifold, took them off the motor just fine, but broke all 3 bolts that hold the manifolds together.

Without a drill press, I decided the best thing to do was take it to a mechanic...2 days later (and me missing a day of work because I was stuck in KY) he got 1 bolt out, and drilled through the manifold in the other two locations...told me to put a threaded rod in, with a nut inside the manifold to hold them together so I could get home...BUT, he didn't line the holes up when he drilled it, so one hole is about a half inch from where it would need to be...done deal, right? I need a new (different) exhaust manifold...borrowed my mom's car and drove all night last night to get to work this morning...

Where can I find an exhaust manifold??? Not having an easy time locating one in Bowling Green, KY or western NC...your help is appreciated as I hope to return to get the truck up and running Easter weekend, so I can return my moms car and bring my truck home.

Thanks in advance,

if you got a sbc, it should be pretty easy to pick one up from a junk yard

I have one you can have. I am in Canton, NC. If you can tell me a general time that you can be here I will pull it off the engine and leave it on my porch for you (I will give you directions of course) just let me know as I coach baseball and don't get in before around 7 pm

WOW!!! That's awesome...it looks like you're about an hour and a half away, so I could come down tomorrow, or thurs. evening Or an evening the beginning of next week, whatever would be best for you...PM me directions, and I'll be there.

PM received and directions printed...Thursday will be great! I should be leaving here around 5 ish...If I can find something to haul the engine in (borrow a truck since mine is in KY) I'd love to take the whole thing...what's wrong with it?

I'll shoot you a PM tomorrow to let you know if I can borrow a truck. You have any way to get it into a truck, or should I try to see what else I can borrow?

Thanks man, it's much appreciated!

Re: Exhaust manifold...HELP

So I made the drive yesterday after work, and Harold gave me bothe the intake and exhaust manifolds!!! (Thanks Harold, and I'll get a hold of you when I get my truck back here so that I can come pick up the rest of the engine, too).

This is a classic story of why the internet, and especially these kinds of forums are incredible for people who like saving old vehicles from crushing deaths!!!

This weekend I hope to pull the manifolds apart, sandblast and paint them so that when I get them back to my truck, I can bolt them on, and be styling in a relatively short amount of time!!!

Thanks again Harold, it was nice meeting you!!!!

I'll post some pics when there's something worth looking at.
