trimming fenders?
 

I tried to search for trimming fender or cutting fenders and did not find what I was looking for. I recall seeing people lengthining the wheel opening but keeping it looking more stock (cutting back further while leaving the lip).

Has anyone done this or have any pictures?

I am thinking of running 33 or 35's with no lift.

If i recall right vtblazer did it. 33s should fit without much rubbing mine did.

I have heard that most 33's clear. I'm not sure what size I will run. I have 16" wheels. 285 75's and 305 70's are approx 33" and 315 75's are approx 35" from what I understand.

I just like the look of slightly bigger tires stuffed into the wheel wells, but usable.

To run 35's would they need to be trimmed up vertically or just at the corners?

I searched under vtblazers name but did not see any links relating to his fender trimming. I am going to look in projects and builds.

I think he did it to the blue blazer he had and it was opening them.

I don't thik 35s will work on a stock truck(67-72 mine being a 69), no matter how much you cut, My 35s hit the arm coming off the steering box, causing a bind which I couldn't turn out of. And they rubs on front and rear if I remember correctly.

You can't cut enough for 35's. But 33's should fit fine. Especially if you work with wheels and backspacing. I ran 33 14.5 Mickey Thompsons on 8" rims, and they rubbed the springs when turning. But 12.5's should be OK on an 8" rim with 3.5" backspacing.

I think it can be done. Afterall even if you lift it 6" and articulate the truck 35" tires will rub. In fact it will rub worse the higher you lift the truck as the front springs compress the axle will move backwards. That's why you see the back of the front fenders damaged even with 6" and 8" lifts. The front edge is not the problem, cutting the "cup" off the front should gain the clearance you need. The problem is the rear of the front fender. The inner fender gets in the way and to make it look stock would be tricky. I've seen pictures of it being done and I prefer the look. The back shouldn't be an issue. Trim off the leading edge of the back wheel opening should give the clearance for 35". Each truck is different however and how you use it makes a difference.

Im running 285-75r16 33x11.50 on a 16x10 with no rubbing. I think you will have to lift with 35s though.
