Lifting only the front...

I through some add-a-leafs in the back of my truck for some towing capability. It picked it up about two inches.

How could I raise only the front up about two inches? :chevy:

shackle would work

Re: Lifting only the front...

No offense, I have never cared much for longer front shackles. Several years ago I got rear add-a-leafs and replaced my sagging oem front springs with 2 1/2" Skyjacker Softrides. I'm very happy with the results. You'll need longer front shocks though, and as luck would have it, rear shocks turned out to be just right for the slightly lifted front.

add a leaf? or are you going for really cheap?

Well. I was hoping it to keep it under 200$.

Since I jacked the rear up with some free add-a-leafs I'm not looking to spend a bunch of money. I'm not a fan of shackle lifts.

Is it possible to only order the front leaf springs from a lift company? I guess I should ask them lol.

Re: Lifting only the front...

i personally would never do this nor recommend doign this, but in order to get 1" of lift out of a shackle, you have to extend the shackle 2" so to get 2" of lift you would need an 8.5" shackle to replace the front 4.5" shackle. and it's probably gonna put a ton of stress on the bolt and you're probably not gonna wanna do that. i would say just pick up some new springs. save for a couple of months. i just purchased new front springs for 350.

I just had this done - added a leaf to the front (4 leafs now) and had them re-arched at a spring shop. $300 labor included

You could do add a leafs in the front for less than 100 bucks... you;d get about 2 inches of lift....

I just bought 4" superlift springs for $229 (no bushings/anything other than springs)
Bushings were $53 dollars and some change(Part number 315 from orielly). Im not sure you would need any steering correction for a 2" lift... Brake lines could be moved below the frame if necessary. might need a set of u bolts but I doubt it... That's pretty cheap for done right...

Edit: Springs were purchased from summit part #SLF-01-254 for 68-72

Only thing I needed with my 2 1/2" Softrides was longer shocks... no changes to steering or brakes. It's been years, but I *think* I used new u-bolts (supplied), though the old ones would have worked okay.

Add-a-leafs with level you up for under $100,since that`s what`s in the back and cheapest is your goal.

I think Rancho makes some.Probably a parts store.I like 4wd places over Summit or Jegs...like 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers.

Re: Lifting only the front...

my front springs are sagging making the front end low. Will an add a leaf in the front correct the sagging springs or just add 2 inches like advertized?

Re: Lifting only the front...

get the long add-a-leafs though... the short one's will be very stiff

options
1. zero-rate leaf for 1" - ORD
2. 6" shackle for 1"ish - I have some for sale cheap
3. add-a-leaf from Rancho
4. new leaf springs
5. blocks - just kidding :)
