fuel door

Do you guys know where I can get the fuel door as well as the section of fender it attaches to? I went to the junk yard at lunch and there are non there. I know I can buy the door, but I need the section of fender as well.
This is for a '79 stepside, but any van, truck, blazer or suburban should fit

I would offer to help you out bro but, this might me hard to come by. Might need to see if you can find a step side fender and pull it off of there. I can find these for 81-87 fleetsides and the pick and pulls in my area all day. I know of one local yard that has a late 70's stepside bed. The old man wants 4 bills for the bed and they don't let you pull your own parts. I am heading to Pa. this weekend so I will keep my eye out for one for you. If I find it, I will see about cutting it out for you

Could you cut the opening out of a fleet side bed and weld it onto the step side? The doors are the same, I assume the openings are similar.

So here is the latest, went back to the junk yard and found a blazer, not sure what year, but the only thing that had a door like mine so I bought it, $20 had to talk them down from $30. Anyways here is the new problem. you are looking at the driver side fender (I am not using this fender, it is the old one) quick story, I have dual tanks and this is the odd side. I bought a bed a while back w/ only one door on the passenger side. If you look close at the first pic you can see the thumb notch on the lower right. the new panel has the thumb notch on the upper right. this is the only way I can mount it to have to door open properly. There are no other trucks up here with that door, and even if there were, I am guessing none are going to have the odd door. What should I do? just mount it facing up? not the end of the world. I thought about cutting the corners out and swapping them but the stamp is not the same on top as it is on the bottom. As far as I can see any panel will fit the stepside bed, including a van, but there is nothing from the 70's or 80's up here. Ecu Pirate, thanks for the offer, anything I can ever do for you, just let me know

I would keep looking for a patch panel off of a drivers side so the notch will be in the right spot.

I was playing with the panel last night and with a little finese I can turn the door 90 degrees and get the notch down on the bottom right like it is supposed to be, you will not know anything until you open the door. I am going to buy the gas filler panel today and see if I can get that to fit. I will keep looking for a driver side panel, if I can find one, if not this will be going on. thanks

Well I think I found a door that will work at a local yard. $75 this is killing me, but I need one. I think I just need to suck it up and pay for it. I don't know I have looked at 7 yards around here and that is the only thing I have found.

Do you need the door too, or just the opening? I might be able to help you out. I think I can get the drivers side from a fleet side. Send me a PM so I don't forget.
