broken vent window

My driver's side vent window falls off the center pivot when opened. Is that pivot supposed to swivel with the window? How can I fix it? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Does it fall off the front pivot or from the bottom? Here are pix of how mine looked before the rebuild:

Its the bottom pivot that is the issue. does that stud with the spring on it swivel?

Sounds like you need a rebuild. Maybe rust ate the shaft or the nut came off and is in the bottom of the door. Dig around in the door and find the nut. Be the easier fix as you have to take everything off the door to get the vent out.....

My driver side broke loose there, slam the door and the window gets to flopping around hanging from the upper pivot. The stud on the bottom is attached to the wing part, unfortunately, I think if that shears off, you have to replace the whole thing. I just bought this off another member to replace mine

I just need to pick up an upper rivet to replace it. I have another whole driver side window, but it's a bit pitted... so I figured I'd just replace the broken part and keep the original track and frame.

A pic of the broken point would help isolate what's needed to fix.

Don't know if this the right place to ask another question, but here qoes. How do you rebuild the vent window assembly. The main felt channel, replacing the rubber gaskets, and getting the rivets reinstalled so it doesn't all fall apart and look like junk... I've looked around but can't find anything.

Haven't done mine yet, they seal ok, so I'm waiting till I do paint to do the whole set... sorry

I imagine it just takes a slow and steady approach and the right tools as well as good materials...

Service manual. Take everything off the door. Vent comes out last.
Just buy all new rubbers and clean up the rest

I have welded broken bottom pivots shafts back on and used pop rivets on the upper pivots.

Never rebuilt one entirely though.

The nut is on the shaft(and is actually shiny)... I guess I need to know what exactly that pivot does mechanically? does it swivel, is it supposed to be cupped at the top, is there supposed to be tension on it?

I believe, and can confirm tomorrow with pics, that if you take the nut off, you will have an L shaped metal frame with the glass and with a shaft sticking out the bottom, almost like a number 4 (depending on the font) ~Trip
