Rear suspension drop?
I bought my truck already dropped in the front with ground force coils and finally got around to taking a look at the rear. It still has the stock hangers so im thinking maybe they removed leafs? I counted 5 on both sides. Then I noticed this:

Re: Rear suspension drop?
It is a flip kit of sorts. I'll bet you can do better. What is the lower axle mount? Looks like it's welded to the spring, is it?

Re: Rear suspension drop?
So I technically have a flip kit in the rear? Interesting
Oh and the axle is welded to the leaf spring...any idea why? |
Re: Rear suspension drop?
they tried to do it very cheap, i'd say cut that junk off and start over

Upon a close look at the picture it looks like the axle is welded to an axle pad of some sort. I just got back from the new Tractor Supply Company here in town and found this axle pad. I need to drill another hole for the center bolt of the spring to relocate the axle back an inch, But I think it will work great as a start of my flipkit. And for the grand total of $10 for the pair of pads I think I'm off to a good start. As for the torch cut on your spring it looks like they tried to shorten thaqt spring to allow it to be just a little lower. Maybe some day the person who did it will learn a little finess with age.

Re: Rear suspension drop?
I wonder why they actually properly dropped the front end and just hacked the back end up? The back is easy to lower...makes no sense.
But anyways thanks for the explanation guys, ill end up grabbing some new leafs for the rear and do things right. |
Re: Rear suspension drop?
they welded the axel to the leaf thinking it would act like a track bar and prevent axel wrap under acce4leration. ive seen that done before.
