I want to remove the front coil springs and cut them on my 86 gmc sierra but im not sure on what bolts i need to remove. Could someone help me out with steps or something like that. Thanks very much.

Not a good Picture but ill take more later today!!

Remove the wheel and secure the truck properly on jack stands. If you get it high enough you should be able to remove the spring by unbolting the lower ball joint at the spindle. Remove the cotter pin and loosen the nut till the threads are at the top of the nut.

Use a BFH and smack the spindle where the ball joint goes through. This should pop the ball joint free and you can use a jack to lower it down after you take the nut off. You may need to pry down on the A-arm to get the spring to "pop" loose. Be careful until it does as it can take a finger on the way out.

DO NOT use excessive heat to cut your spring. There are several different ways to cut the spring that won't effect the tempering. If your not sure how let us know.

Thank you very much. Im going to give it a shoot either today or tomorrow. and the picture looks alot better thanks!!! and it has drop spindles on the front, will that interfere with anything being toke off?

also if you take the sway bar loose from the a arm it makes it easier

please be careful that spring is strong enough to hold up your 4000 pound truck the force it could come out with is insane so wear your helmet :lol: no seriously be very careful

thank you!! ended up raining today so ill have to wait till tomorrw to get a hold of it but ill post before and after pictures soon!!
