Installing a Spotlight - Questions

I just scored a great spotlight for the drivers side for the GMC. All correct and working. Has all the instructions and patterns for the gaskets, see linky

Anybody out there ever install one of these before? Any Hints/Hates?

I've been after one of these for a while, With this spotlight, it for me on all the accessories I could have possibly gotten in the 1960 GMC.

Here the tech specs.

This auction is for a really nice used 1960 1961 1962 1963 Chevrolet / GMC Truck Factory / Dealer Accessory Spotlight. Unity made the spotlights for GM during this period. This is a Unity Model S-6 spotlight with the GM cap on the top and also the GM only handle with the short black plastic grip on the handle. This short black grip is only found on GM factory spotlights. This handle still had the original factory wiring and the plastic clip is still on the end of the wire. The spotlight is 12V and it works and the switch works. The handle rotates the spotlight properly. The GM Truck spotlights from 1960 - 1963 used a unique bracket combination -- 141L & 8205 LH. You did not receive this bracket set when a spotlight was purchased from an auto parts dealer. This 141L bracket and its companion 8205 LH inside bracket only came from GM. You eeven need a special shaft to mount the factory bracket. This spotlight has all the original stuff. Its the real thing.

Hope this helps, it's from the 1963 Chevrolet Custom Accessories Book. I'll be drilling the new cab for my K10 project.

What an incredible bargain. In that condition with all the pieces, I'm amazed it didn't sell for more than twice that much.

I see the seller indicates you will "receive a copy of the GM factory mounting template". If it really is a copy and not an original, there is some risk the copying process reduced the size of the final image a small amount. Make sure to match up the mounting holes in the bracket to the paper template, and if the template is undersize calculate the amount of shrinkage to return it to the original dimensions before drilling holes in your truck.

Besides the casting # do you see a small Autolite crest?
