Tall skinny tires...
 

I'm trying to locate different brands of tall skinny off road tires. If possible I'd like to go a bit taller than a 235/85/16. I know Interco still sells their original TSL Super Swamper, but its by special order only. And I don't want Boggers. I'm looking for something with more of the classic off road tire look. Does anybody know who else makes them? Here are some pics below of what I'm talking about.

And as a side note, how much lift would you say this truck has?

Try one of the farm type hardware stores. Tractor Supply or Orschelins. They have different names in differnet parts of the country but you get the idea.

I have an idea what you're looking for (I'm thinking 7.50-16 bias ply), but don't know of anything currently being manufactured.

Farmers Coop handle Grip Spurs, a great bias tire. 7.50-16 or 9.00-16. With your ride hight, the 9.00-16 look to fit.

I like the 9.00X16s I have ran Power Kings on several of my old trucks..they stand right about 36" tall. Town & Country use to sell them but its been awhile since I've bought any.

And as a side note, how much lift would you say this truck has?

Thats Erl's truck and I believe it has a 4" lift

7.50-16's on stock 74 rims in this photo. I ran them because I did not need floation, I needed to be able to dig in. Also wanted to keep the tires under the fenders to keep the mud, rocks, etc. off the sides as much as possible.

How tall are you wanting?

Here are some General mud tires that were on my K20 when I bought it but now are on my K5. They are only about 31" tall but I'm afraid they aren't available anymore.

My dually has those Power Kings on it, I really like them I just wish I could find a local place to buy them. A couple spares would be nice.

My truck has a 2 inch lift. Those are Power King tires in the pic above. I have switched to Firestone Destination M/T LT235/85R 16 120/116Q. They are radials and a BIG improvement over the Power Kings. I am installing a NV4500/205 and painting the truck. So, I do not have any pics with the new tires, but they look very similar.

Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping for something in the 33" range. I think 235/85/16s are around 31", but maybe I'm splitting hairs at that point. And I suppose much over 33" I may be running into clearance issues. Right now the truck has 33x12.50x16.5 which can be somewhat cumbersome with no power steering, which I have no intent to change.

I was looking into Mastercraft tires, which look similar to the Firestones posted above. Our local Mastercraft shop is at the grain elevator, so they may have some other "feed store mudders." :)

Erl, you have a sharp truck, I especially dig the 305 v6.

255/85/r16 is the size you want, but a 285/75/r16 will also work. 255/85 is roughly 33x10.50 and 285/75 is 33x11.50 roughly.

I'm only going to be using 6.5" wide wheel, maybe a 7" wheel max. I used some 265/75/16s on the 6.5" wheels before going to my current setup, and they were ok.

So the Power Kings are 36" tall?

255/85/r16s are what i planned to run on my 7" wheels, roughly 33x10.50x16, i know bfgoodrich makes a mud tire in that size, and i think interco does as well. Im going to look into these co-op tires though.

7.50-16 coopers may be a good item for you to look at. cheap too. Or look down at the bias's.

Oh yeah, I'm just down at the end of rt 29, not far at all.

The Power Kings seem to be a 35", maybe 36". My truck only has a 2-3 inch lift and they do not rub anywhere. I took my dad for a ride a few days ago, he was impressed with how well the truck rode. He said it was "very civilized":lol:

These are 33x10.5x15 BFG AT's... I like the old school mud look too but I got a heck of a deal on these.. no lift

Maxxis makes a 255/85-16.They were called Buckshot Mudders,but have another name now.Check with Good year and see if they still make Extra Tractions and if they do see about 9.00s.Thaose are the traditional mud grip tread.

I run the 235/85's on the dually. I have the 255/85 Mud Terrains on my other truck and like them very much. BFG lists them at 33.3" tall.

I am running 255 85 16 dean sierra radial at on my dually. They are only 3/4 of an inch wider and 1 1/4 inch taller than 235 85 16. The only problem is rubbing between the duals. I may have to go with spacers between the duals, but a single wheel truck woudn't have that problem.
