what to do?

i've got a 96 gmc 1500 ext cab short box. Currently installing shackles, i say currently because most bolts were rusted in bushings and i had to cut off bolts to remove leaf springs and shackle. Doing this i managed to narf up the leafs pretty good. Now i'm thinking of upgrading to 5 leaf springs in the rear, since i always thought the rear rode too soft. Or is there anything a spring shop can do to these springs and make a 'firmer' ride? Are they repairable?

Thanks

The spring doesn't look to be hurt. Your going to need to press that bushing out, clean up the surafce with a sanding disc, and put a new bushing in.

Yes, a spring shop can add leaves, re-arch, or what ever you need.

Re: what to do?

My local spring shop charges 12 dollars per bushing. That is the bushing cost plus installation for that price. They keep the bushings in stock.

thanks for the info. i'll try my local shop in the morning. Either that or there is some 5 leafs at a auto salvage around here for $50.

Re: what to do?

went and bought a pair of springs (5 leaf). I called kramer and it was cheaper to buy new springs. everything is back together and riding nice.

thanks
