tracy is runnin the 294 xs solid, which is pretty huge. i wanna go a little milder but still go with a solid lift like he has.

eric, i hadn't thought about selling it. but mabey. if i did it would be less the heads since i am reusing them. so you would have to find another set. when we had the heads off last month you could still see the cross hatches in the bores so it has been machined fairly recently. it is .06 over already so it can't be bored again. but if you did want to take it apart and get some machine work done i think they could just hone it since the bores appear good. let me know if your still interested we can work something out. i won't be pulling it till late may.

I'm jealous. It will be cool for sure.

racedvl 02-10-2003 09:43 AM

You wouldn't have the orginal crank? I have a 400 block, that had a rod with a spun bearing, and it took the crank with it. :(

Low87 02-10-2003 11:42 AM

nope i just bought the block and mains. you can get a scat 9000 which is good for stock to mild performance motor for about $200 bucks.:D

eric got first dibs on the motor but if he don't want to buy it then your next jeff.

Tracy Focht 02-10-2003 03:24 PM

Stock Lightnings are easily obtainable. There is a guy here, with a stock, and I mean 'real' stock..(not lying like some guys I know) and he runs a solid 13.80's. And my old 383 ran a 13.56, faster than a stock Vette. So with good traction, you should see 12's on that motor alone.

I think you'll like it, and relatively speaking, the 408 with bigger cubes, the 294s seems tame at idle.
But I would go solid for sure, no matter what size.
