Parking brake cable options
 

Hi everyone, I've been working on my 1971 Suburban for a couple months now (bought it in January). This is my first time posting. Looks like a great community from what I've seen!

Anyway, the truck I have is a 3/4 ton 4x4, and the previous owner had a massive lift on it. I've already lowered it about 4 inches, and plan to lower it another couple once I get smaller tires.

Problem is, in order to get the lift set up, the p.o. apparently cut the parking brake cables, so the tail that comes from each rear drum is just hanging there. No cable at all running from front to back.

So... my question is, what are my options here? It'll likely still be a bit higher than stock, so are there options of extended parking brake lines from the drums, and what options do I have for running new cables at all (so I can get this thing inspected).

I had my 68 K20 burb cables made to order from In-Line tube, sent them my originals and told them what I needed. They copied them perfectly.

Just make sure you explain things clearly....

They have the worst/most expensive shipping, so if you tell them one thing and they do another which leads to shipping back and forth. It will get expensive really quick, and they are not flexible at all when it came to shipping costs.

Longhorn cables I ordered from LMC were the exact same length as the stock ones on my Suburban. I sent them back.
I think the next logical step for me will be to copy mosesburb and relocate the brackets to the front spring pivot.

I actually found some brake cables from a mid-80s Chevy 4x4. I'm putting a new rearend in this weekend, so we'll see how they work. I got the cables at Advance Auto for pretty cheap, maybe $15 a piece.

I'll post info on them after the weekend.

Can someonr help me please. I'm trying to get the rod that hold your emergency cable on the frame off so that I can get it sandblasted and paint, don't want the cable blasted.

Many vendors sell the E-brake equalizers now.

I found e-brake cables for my 68 k20 at inlinetube.com they make them in house....
