1967 1/2 ton stepside Pro Street

Hi, I purchased a 67 chevrolet 1/2 ton Stepside from a friend of mine a year ago and finally decided to start working on it. The truck has been back halfed with a Chris Alston kit and it has the full roll cage in the cab with the bars coming through the back window. The firewall has been cut out so I'm looking for pictures or dimensions on what others have done with a new firewall. I was thinking a 4-5 inch recess in the center section but would like to see what others have for a firewall. Any build pictures of similar projects would be nice.

Thanks in Advance for your help,

Joe

Greg.....I'm not normally a big stepper fan but I would LOVE to have that on MY back burner!!!!!

That would make one mean shop truck and I love the 'cide doors!

That truck is absolutely sick. Have you chopped the top a little?

wow, now that's a project right there, I dig the cage and tubework! I'm usually not a fan of chopped top 67-72's, but that looks pretty good! Curious what you'll do for glass though.

Joe, post up a pic of what you've got to work with if you can!

Thanks for the positive responses! I don't want to hi-jack this thread, but here's the specs: I chopped the top 4" about 20 years or so ago, and I sectioned the roof in 4 pieces, added filler strips and skinned it. It has a Dana 60 with a 4:56 gear,35 spline axles with a locker. It's set up for a BBC and turbo 400, with Wilwood brakes on all corners. I also did the suicide doors, built the headers and exhaust, and narrowed the rear. The glass is all flat except for the windshield, which I have a plan for that. You guys really got me fired up on this, but I just finished my 68 short stepside, and said I would never go this deep again, but I guess we'll see. I don't want to clutter this thread, but I can answer any questions in a PM. Thanks, Greg

Very Nice Truck. Can I see a picture of the back of the frame. My firewall is cut out just like your <smile>. I'm making up a new firewall with a 5" recess in the center. Once the firewall is done then I will add the bars through the firewall to the front of the frame. I'm thinking of adding a Mustang II Suspension but don't know who sells the crossmember kit. I will try to post a few pictures of my project this weekend. Thanks again for the pictures of your project.
