So i got my new bed built. My neighbor and i worked together on it and i think it looks great. I got some ideas from some of yall's truck photos so thanks for that. I was going to try to replace the wheel arch on the original bed but i suck at welding stuff that thin. Check out the photos... Pretty nice huh?

Very nice! Are you going to do anything between the bed and bumper?

We need more flat beds! Looks great!
I don't know about Arkansas laws, but now that your rear wheels are "un-covered" you may be in need of some mud flaps.
Good job!

wow looks good now you just need some interior wooden pieces to pull it all together! is it a beater or a show truck, back half is gorgeous and front is in primer

Love those flat beds. That is a really good job on the woodwork. I like it.

Looking good, nice work! On the rear, just get some plate and weld a ranch style rear skirt kinda like this:

The original poster hasn't been on the board since 1-17-2011 so I doubt you will get a response from him. Any kind of wood will work. Hardwood generally lasts longer than soft woods but it also depends what you use for a finish. No matter what kind of wood or finish you use it will have to be refinished every few years.....
