Referencing: How to install a 73-87 swaybar into a 60-72 for cheap!
After reading the post below by TX FF, I have some questions. I am using an '81, 1/2 GMC parts truck for the front suspension and P/S on my 64 c 10. The brackets for the sway bar that attach to the frame with rivits are broken/bent on my parts truck. I see in the post where some have used the shorter brackets on lowered trucks or bolted the bar to the frame. Could I do this with a stock ride height truck? Would the angles be too severe and cause problems?

You could always buy and adjustable bar and or brackets from speedway motors.

With the stock sway bar brackets, the end of the sway bar will be resting nearly level in a neutral position in the control arm bushings at normal ride height.
Jacking the truck up allowing the control arms to hang on the sway bar twists the bushings up out of alignment. Using lowered mounting brackets will do the same thing to a lesser extent, by raising the center of the bar higher than normal at rest. Fyi - the TX FF link isn't working. |

I would use stock brackets with a stock ride height.

I was thinking that the sway bar to bushing alignment would be bad. I'll get some brackets.
