shorty headers

anyone have any cons about using a set of shorty headers on a 2wd 68?
the long tubes on there now dont work. they rub in 2 places and the starter wont fit between the block and them? im thinking of getting a set of the $59.00 unpainted ones from speedway.
also how would powdercoat work?:chevy:

Only con I have ever heard is that they are not as good as long tubes:lol: I would imagine they would flow better than stock manifolds and are a heck of a lot lighter, I would find away to make the long tubes hit. I got a high torque mini-starter to fit my longtubes for less than $60 if that would help.

About the issue of long vs. short headers ... yeah, the long tubes will likely make more power at certain rpm ranges, but you have to ask yourself if that extra power is even noticeable in the seat of your pants. In many cases that answer will be no. So maybe the smart money says to go with what fits most readily.
