Heater Hose Coupler
I've had zero luck so far, even at the dealer, so now I go to the experts. My daily driver 99 Sierra 2500 with the 6.0 started spewing coolant last night. Turns out the hose going to the heater core sheared right at the coupler. It appears it is some sort of quick disconnect that acts as a coupler between the barbed connected in the hose, and the barbed part of the heater core. Both my hoses have this, but the dealer shows no such thing in any of their diagrams. Has anyone else had this issue? The part I need is white and is about 3 inches long and 1.5 inches thick.
Thanks in advance. |
Re: Heater Hose Coupler
Shot in the dark, but does it look like this?
http://www.dormanproducts.com/applic...HOSE+CONNECTOR If so, check your parts stores and use this #. This is a Dorman Product and I can't think of any larger stores that don't carry Dorman. NAPA sells Dorman under the name Balkamp or NAPA label products. Here it is at Oreilly: http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/se...eyword=800-409 I know NAPA has them also, I saw them in the store today. GM probably doesn't sell it byitself only as the entire hose. Thats my guess as to why they couldn't find it. |
Re: Heater Hose Coupler
Thanks for the reply! That is the piece that goes into the hose, but there is a large white coupler type thing that connects that black part to the barbed fitting on the heater core. I can't find it anywhere, or instructions for how to remove it. I'm going to take a pic tonight. This is apparently specific to the 6.0L trucks. Very frustrating to say the least...

Re: Heater Hose Coupler
Truckdude, they had the white piece? I have no problem finding the black barbed plastic piece, but the white piece seems to be nonexistent.

Re: Heater Hose Coupler
The dealaer does have it. It just sounds like the parts guy doesn't know what he's doin. However the only way to get that part from the dealer is to buy the whole hose assembly. I know this for sure cause I ordered one for my dads truck. It broke in the same place.

Re: Heater Hose Coupler
I was looking at the diagram at the dealer, and it wasn't on there at all. Maybe if I order the whole hose, it comes with it, but the big question now is, how do I get the white piece off? Does anyone have a picture so we can make sure we are talking about the same thing? My internet connection at home is a mobile broadband card and pics take forever to load.
