monster transmissions are junk
i paid 1600 for their stage 2 and it sucks . my stock turbo 350 in my malibu wagon shifts as good or better and its not new . im thinking they took my 1600 and sent me a stock 700r4.i spent $40 for one of their tv cables it was used and woulndstay ciped in the bracket so i had to go to napa to get a stock type. all this and i had to wait a month just to get it from them when they said it would be 2 1/2 weeks . very dissipointed with them.:cuss:

Re: monster transmissions are junk
Be sure the tv is adjusted right. It is critical for shift quality and timing. That being said I have no opinion and have had no dealings with monster. jay

Re: monster transmissions are junk
I have same trans in my 85 700r4 stage 2. with 1800-2000 stall converter. Mine will hurt your neck if you punch on it. Def will bark tires in 2nd. Maybe 3rd if had less weight. Check you tv adjustment. It is vital to shift patern and firmness. Try taking it to a good trans shop. One adjusted mine for free. If it does not help call them back. They are very friendly. They will try to make it right. They sent me a 100 part cause mine did not have a computer so i needed a diff lock up kit. They did not argure or anything.

I agree with 85burb, Give them a chance before you bash them. I've had no issues with my Mega Monster TH350 with 2000 stall. I drove 3 hrs and picked mine up in person, They gave me a tour of their rebuild shop and shot the bull for over a hour, Really good guy's in my book.... |
Re: monster transmissions are junk
I have to agree with everyone else, i put one of their 700r4 and converters in my impala and the motor is 580hp to the flywheel and i have also sprayed a 150 shot of nitrous and nothing, it holds like a champ! Sad to say but you bashed them when the problem might of been the installer/adjuster of the tranny. They are a good company with a great rep, they try to keep it that way and im sure will help you with any questions and concerns you might have.

Re: monster transmissions are junk
A well built transmission even a "stage 2" isnt going to shift much harder then a stock transmission under normal driving conditions. The idea is to have a firm quick shift with no delay. I'm sure monster uses a transgo kit or a variation these kits keep the shifts fairly stock until you romp on it or manually shift. I looked at the website. This isnt much more then a stock rebuild with upgraded parts to handle a bit more power no where in the description is it listing as a neck snapping setup, its built to be like stock but better. I cant say why they would send out a used cable but I'd be calling and asking.

Re: monster transmissions are junk
Belive me i felt same way. The same day i installed trans my electric fuel pump went out. The factory mechanical could not suck fuel threw it that good. So if you punched it it would be ok then crap out and make trans feel like it was slipping and jerking. Took a few weeks to figure that one out. I also had 3 different shops adjust my tv cable. First one was way to late on shifts second one was way soft early shifts. It was in od at like 25 MPH. The last one did it great. Take deep breath and look over everything again.
