Front brake lines, need help..CPP products..
Ok, I have a 70 with 71 front disc brake setup. i purchased cpp drop kit and my truck is bagged. it has the new modular spindles. for the brake line that goes from master cylinder, over to passenger side and down towards rear is 1/4 inch line. the lower line that goes from left brakes to right brake i used the 3/16 line (smaller of the two) with the cpp kit it came with everything including the rubber 7/16 hose that goes from the caliper to the frame and attaches to the 3/16 line. my problem is the ends are set up for the 1/4line. what do i do? do i use a bigger line the 1/4 inch for left to right or is there a reducer for the 7/16 rubber to go from a 1/4 to a 3/16 on the end. thanks for the help.

Had the same issue as you. I eventually found the fitting I needed at a schucks/o'reilly's store of all places!! It had the correct flares and went from 1/4 to 3/16 just like I needed. It was out in the floor, on the little brake fitting carousel thing and was in green packaging.
I looked online and think this may be the part, but don't quote me on it. I took a 3/16 fitting and the brake line in to verify. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...fittings+-+sae |

Same problem here. I was thinking about making a 3/16 line instead of using the adapter. Does anyone think this will reduce the braking effectiveness?

It should be fine. I've done both. Replaced the line with 3/16" or just purchased an adapter for the inverted flare fittings. |

The only difference would be the porportioning valve itself. Does it have any markings on it? Like a number ending with PV2 for disc/drum or PV4 for disc/disc. Is this a CPP product? |

Mine finally up and running now, the brake line adapters don't leak and work fine. The brakes do feel like crap though, I don't know if I still have air in there somewhere or not enough vacuum (only 14lbs)...I have bled them 4 times with the motive brake bleeder though, and they still "pump up" slightly and have to really press the pedal for them to start biting....hmmm...
