Post away fellas.
Different wood finishes. Different wood pattern. Metal Beds. Different materials. You can also post tubbed beds such as Pro/Street ot Bagged trucks as well. This thread can be a source for us fellas can get some ideas at. Later I can link it in the "( 1960-1966 Chevy/GMC Pickup Truck Restoration/Modification/Customization Ideas ))" thread. |

Oak bed with 8 coats of Helmsmans (by Minwax) on top and 6 coats underneath, final coat was buffed.
SS strips and hardware. Reinforced the cross sills to delete bolting the bed down through the wood floor. Inner fenders tubbed 5 1/2 inches. Custom tie downs in bed floor, welded up stake pockets. Gas filler through bed floor. All work done by myself. |

OK here is my '65 GMC fender side. I tinted the stain to match the truck color. A lot of work but I think it turned out great. Still a work in progress but I am pleased with the tint in the grain of the wood.

My Bed Wood at this time!
Was made temporarily to get me by. Can you guess what material it is???? Take a guess?? Ha ha....Still can't figure it out? I will tell you... Plytanium on Center Untreated Wood Siding. http://www.lowes.com/pl__4294934233_4294937087_?rpp=30 Exterior grade with highly moisture resistant bond durability for exterior siding applications.... Now that's a poor mans engineering. No I'm not going to keep it. Going to make my bed wood look real nice. http://images.lowes.com/product/conv...99104559lg.jpg http://public.bay.livefilestore.com/...lowJacketT.jpg |

Here is my bed rebuilt using stainless strips, stainless bolts and 3/4" treated plywood. It takes a bit more than 1- 4 x 8 sheet. You can get the cut lengths here (http://www.gmcpauls.com/47-72_BedWood_Info.htm).
The truck works as a yard truck so the treated lumber is the best choice for me. The stainless can be reused & buffed up when I rebuild for show (yeah right). Blue666 Robesonia, PA (Currently working in Afghanistan) |

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock
There are some beautiful ones here, but the signs are one of the coolest bed floors that I've seen before. My dad does woodwork, so he and I are making a new floor on the '64 out of hickory. I'm thinking just clear with too many layers of varnish until it's like glass. Won't have photos until August when he comes and visits.
