WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
5 Attachment(s)
I was just minding my own business working under a short bed 69 CST, when a guy stopped by with a pair of NOS Fuely heads for sale. So I bought them, and now am curiouse what the value might be. They haven't ever had valves, valve springs, or anything ever installed. Very light surface rust only. Both have the same casting numbers 3890462. One has E196 under the casting number and the other has E206. I ran the casting numbers at Mortec.com and this was what I came up with:

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Just figured out the date of manufacture.
E196 = May 19, 1966 E206 = May 20, 1966 I also found this on an Ebay auction... Quote:

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
You might put a WIW on Corvette Forum. I think they would be of greatest value to the Corvettes. I do not believe the Corvettes had a Fuel injected motor in 66 or 67 just a 350 horsepower which would have been for the highest horsepower smallblock those years.

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Hmmm, Thank you for the advise. Do you know a good one to post them on? WES

Wes, Go to corvetteforum.com

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Thank you Mike. I'll go read their forum rules. WES

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Wes,those would have been correct for 275hp & 300hp as they are. they have pressed in studs and valve seats are finished for 1.94 and 1.5 valves. they are also correct casting # for 325hp & 350 hp but would need to be machined for screw in studs and 2.02 and 1.6 valves. not nos but good cleaned and maged bare sets are $200 to $400 average they are worth more to the right person needing correct date code for restoration of corvette etc.

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Thanks for the added info 67/72Junkie. I haven't listed these things yet but soon will. I am also going to talk to Larry over at Corvette and High performance to see what his thoughts are. WES

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Possibly the missing link in that ol' rare Corvette option?

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
I'll have to go to the low side and say $200 tops. The market for these has really died off in recent years. 5-10 years ago, complete reconditioned sets would sell on a regular basis for upwards of $900. Now there are much better performance heads on the market for similar $, and bone stock restos seem to be less popular too.
Also, these particular heads weren't that uncommon to begin with, as there were A LOT of '67 Full-sizes with the 275 horse 327. |
Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Wes, you might try getting ahold of Paul Duncan (Duncan & Son) on the board. He used to be into the C3 vettes and could probably ask around for anyone still in the vette scene. Trevor

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Thanks again. I will try Duncan & Son and see what he has to say. I should be hearing back from Larry today also. WES

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
Well that's a coincidence. I just saw an ad on the Columbus Ohio craigslist for a set of virgin 462 heads. Looked to be in very similar condition, asking price was $200 IIRC.

Re: WIW.... NOS 66-67 Cammel Hump Heads
I saw 492s and 462s both in Columbus craigs list. Neither of witch were virgin and the 462s had extencive work on them. (Unknown condition) What were you looking under? WES
