im buying a 454 vortec next friday and was wondering how much work it would be to install in my 62? i will be putting a carb on it so what all will i need to put it in and get it running?

the guy want 150 bucks for it and it needs to be rebuilt.

That will make it easier, but you`ll have to buy or build a rear trans mount, cut out the old rear trans/bell housing mounts, ( I think you have them) to get them out of the way, drive shaft, you`ll need three or four row radiator to match inlet / outlet, then just all the little things that will come into play as you go.

Here's another, you may need to run a new fuel system with an electric pump and regulator if it is a later model block without a pump boss.

To get 500hp out of a Vortec 454, it will need a complete rebuild......it's gonna cost some $$$$$. Then once you get your 500hp engine built, you'll need to build a transmission and rear end to handle it.

Just tell everyone its got 500 HP. :) I haven't met anyone yet that carries around a dyno...

i just want something faster than my big block trans am i had back in high school. it had almost 450hp
