So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
Well I have had an air compressor since like last fall lol and have used it a few times but nothing major. Finally was looking at getting an impact gun kit with some other odds and ends in there I could use. Low and behold my bros and dad surprised me on my bday the other day with this kit from Amazon. Used it all day today & totally fell in love with it! Figured better share :metal: :ito:

Nice! I know after I went to pneumatics I can't go back, I love mine. Happy late Bday by the way! Now the problem you are going to have is you will always want a bigger compressor  I'm looking to upgrade to 50 gallon right now

Ah tools, they give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. But I think I am worse than a crack head when it comes to buying them

Congrats and happy bday. |

hope you had a happy birthday
BUT i hate impact tools, have just seen so much damage done with them over the years i prefer hand tools and time |

Re: So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
same one I have... I love it, except, i had to go and buy good sockets. I had some cheap ones that I had for years that were holding up great till I got that 1200 ft pound monster gun.
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/OBJECTS/56100/56068.JPG I wouldn't bother with letting snap on rebuild any impacts, I've done it twice and both times they came back weak and lame and only lasted a year. Once you go with air tools, you'll wonder how you did ANYTHING manually. I will agree though, air is a good way to ruin things. I have an old blue point 3/8 drive I use plenty, it makes fast work, and can break loose some pretty tight or rusted nuts and bolts, but it is weak and lame. I bought it off a co worker specificly becouse it isn't very strong. |
Re: So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
I have seen lots of guys tear stuff up using air tools. That doesnt mean they are bad. Like anything else you hafta use caution. Dont run bolts back in with an impact you deserve to have problems if you do. Use torque sticks on lug nuts. Air makes taking things apart much faster. A lot of times the impact will save you from breaking a bolt coming apart because of the vibration. Just be sensible in what you do. I love my 3/8's impact for disassembly. Every tool has its purpose. If used properly they save a ton of time and hassle.

Re: So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
Nice set!! The next thing for our shop at home, except maybe a MIG welder, is a good compressor and air tools.
I do agree though, you gotta be cautious. My boss at work always asks me why I don't use the air ratchet or impact on something, and it's because: A) I'm so used to using hand tools, and B) Air tools do break stuff a lot. Stuff like lugnuts and bolts should be threaded in by hand, then tightened with the impact. |
Re: So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
granted i have a decent selection of air tools (like 23 or so) my absolute favorite is my IR 2112 3/8 impact. we run 175psi at the shop and it gets work done fast.
FYI, for air hammer bits I use the gold colored ones from Snap-On as they are lifetime warranty. but my curved flat chisel from Matco works best for rivets. it's been a year or better now and I have only had to sharpen it once. |
Re: So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
i have a Chicago Pneumatic impact wrench i love it

Re: So nice finally having air tools omg!! Had a good bday too
Cool deal, no matter what kind of air tools you have spend the extra and get good hose and connectors. I hate hearing an air leak. I have a couple now from cheap connectors, and regulator. Until i get down to the supply house I keep turning the valve on and off so I don't have to listen to the constant PSSSSS.
