The Fuse is Lit...
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...cherrybomb.jpg
Okay, I guess it is time to get this show on the road. I am building this truck to be my daily driver. I need to try to keep the budget as under control as possible, but I have a hard time letting things be sometimes, ya know? Yeh, I know you do. Here is my new girl... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...100_0509-1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...100_0500-1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...100_0503-1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...100_0502-1.jpg http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...100_0508-1.jpg |
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
First thing I had to do was get her in the garage, got kind of exciting when the already poor brakes went to the floor. I almost remodeled our bedroom closet but got her stopped in time.;)
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0522.jpg Start the teardown...I am pretty good at this part...it is the putting back together that gets me stumped. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0555.jpg Pull the cab and what was left of the bed... http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0604.jpg Shes stripped now http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0584.jpg By the way, yes I realize there is a very pink bike in my photos, I live with three women... I am just used to pink things in my life. If it helps, just think of it as a restored Softail. |
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
After a little frame cleaning, and a whole lot of reading here, I cut the frame. Thanks to everyone that posted on how they did this. I can't tell you how much I learned.

Re: The Fuse is Lit...
be careful with your seatbelt buckles i had no idea when i was younger that the 67 buckles were a one year only thing, i lost them some time over the years and they were expensive to replace

Re: The Fuse is Lit...
cool truck and project!
|
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
That truck is beautiful! It looks like it could be a Cherry Bomb project vehicle the way it sat when you picked it up:metal:
Oh I can't wait to go down south to pick up a nice shell!:uhmk: |
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
Damn fast work and that truck looks really solid..
|
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
I already posted this in another thread but I picked up a 2005 Sub for $1000.00
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...100_0573-1.jpg It has a 6.0L with the 4L80e, has all the wires and computers, should make for a fun ride. Maybe I will be able to part out the remainder to cover the cost of buying the vehicle. Now that would be a blessing. |
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
Out with the old...
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0603.jpg In with the new (well, newer anyway:lol:) http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0630.jpg I had a buddy that owed me a favor. I was able to get the frontend, rearend (3.42) and the brake setup out of a 1991 Sub he was ready to crush. I'll try to get some pics of the swap. Thanks for looking |
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
nice progress... keep the pics coming
|
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
Got a little more done.
Got the frontend situated. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0644.jpg Amazing that it bolts up this closely, two holes to drill and two that need some small widening. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0645.jpg Now...about that rearend. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...w/100_0646.jpg |
Re: The Fuse is Lit...
cool, keep at it. What was the reasoning on not painting the LCA's with the rest of it? Just going to deal with them later?

Re: The Fuse is Lit...
that crossmember looks like it will give you a little more ground clearance , is that correct or does it hang down as low as the original ???
