about inline engine o V engine...

Hi, I need some opinion...

I have a GMC jimmy in restoring process, I have a inline chevy 6 cilinder engine 250 L6 too

but, I have the oportunity to buy two engines from a friend, the first engine is a V8 307 small block engine from a 69 chevy malibu and the other is a chevy L6 292 from a suburban (not sure, can be from a small truck) wich is better ? I read about the 292 in the web, and some people say L6 250 is better than the 307 (better torque)

any opinion about wich is the best engine?
250 - 292 - 307?

PS:
I want a economic engine, but don't want a car without power, ocasional off road use... so don't tell me: buy a 350 or something like that...

Are any of the engines rebuilt?

Gotta go with the 292 on that one. I've got an inline 250, and there's something pretty cool about inlines. But if you're going to go inline, you might as well get some hp out of it. The 307 is a bit of an underperformer.

The 307 is a good boat anchor pass on it.If you want something easy on gas 305 tbi or tpi or maybe a 350.

Personally I'd drop a HT383E crate engine in it. http://www.crateenginedepot.com/HT38...3-P1583C2.aspx With the weight of your truck, a boat anchor like a 305 will not get much better mpg. Set up properly, and providing you can keep foot out of it.

Hi again, thank you for your reply, I found two engines in my locally, here in my country (peru) one is a chevy 305 (84) and other is a chevy 350 (80) both of them are rebuilt (ready to use)

since is too dificult to find the electronic here, the actual owner transformed the both engine to carburated version, the 305 come with 2bbl carburetor and the 350 come with 4bbl carburetor, the other option (l6 292) is still avaiable (but a friend say, the 292 is very similar to 305 in power and fuel consumption)

as I say before I want something easy on gas, so wich is a better option...

292? 305? 350?

in other way some of my friends, thing, the V8 engine cylinder is better than the L6 linear engine, this is true?

Honestly, I'd go with the 350. You won't notice a big difference in gas mileage between the 305 and 350, bit will notice a huge difference in torque. A 4bbl can get good mpg's if you can keep your foot out of it.

si quieres mas fuerza ponle otro intake mannifold para 4 barrel on your 250,(offenhauser) it will run better than any carburated 305 or 350 (my opinion)
