Cummins Powered Crew Dually

I am converting my Cummins powered M1008 to a crew cab dually.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...8/DCP_1638.jpg

I spliced the front section of my frame to a 2wd crew cab frame using a Z splice between the 2nd and 3rd cab mounts. I can leave everything as is on the Cummins conversion that way. I also bought another 2wd frame and cut it apart to use the frame rails to fully box my frame.

Cab is from an Air Force truck from Greenland. It has the common forklift damage on the door like many military trucks that are sent to auction.

I got the 19.5 wheels powder coated, bought some new tires and wheel adapters.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/DCP_3305.jpg

I am using my original bed because it is in better shape and modifying it to accept the dually fenders.
http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/DCP_3301.jpg

I removed the cab and bed, cut the original frame and the crew cab frame using a Z cut with an 8" long horizontal line. I got a professional welder to weld the splice. He used a stick instead of a mig. I have never had one of my welds fail but I have no formal training.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/DCP_3318.jpg

I fully boxed the frame with the extra frame rails. The crew cab frames use individual mounts at the rear of the cab and the standard cabs have an X-member. I used the X-member since the holes are in the same location. I also built a gooseneck hitch for it.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/g...t/DCP_3354.jpg

I had the the cab media blasted and I epoxy primed it and started on the body work. Then we mounted it on the frame and sprayed a coat of black epoxy. Afterward it will be high build urethane and hours of block sanding. The paint will be PPG 9300 black single stage urethane with the last coat 50% clear. I bought 1 gallon and 2 quarts of black. I hope that will be enough with the 2 quarts of clear.

The wheels are 19.5"x7.5" steel Accuride. They are the 10 lug semi pattern and used mostly on large roll backs and delivery trucks. Sometimes on semi trailers.

The tires are P245-70 14 ply.

The front springs are Rancho heavy duty and I think they rate them at 3" lift. The rear lift blocks are 4" tall and there is a 1" body lift to make my intercooler fit.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Got the cab and fenders painted. It was too big to fit in my neighbors paint room so we sprayed it in my shop.

That looks really nice! I'm trying to talk my brother into painting his 88 V30 black and silver 2 tone. I love those CC LB DRW trucks in black!

Did you just bolt the adaptera onto the srw front and rear hubs or did you change the hubs to drw hubs?

Friggin awesome! Thats a great looking truck, and a great powerplant! I love it! Where did you get the 19.5's? What size tires? What transmission?

Swapped to dually hubs and a dually Dana 70 rear.

The 19.5 wheels came from a big truck salvage yard. The tires are Michelin P245-70-19.5 and the transmission is a Dodge NV4500 with a Chevy tail housing and output shaft.

Thanks,

Was the truck a manual already? Or did you convert to manual?
